WOW!! Five nights aboard the Valiant Lady on Virgin Voyages, and it’s safe to say we are hooked! This small, adults-only cruise line definitely punches above its weight and delivers the experience with a BANG!
Starting from check-in and receiving your wristband to making your grand entrance at the Roundabout for your first scoops of ice cream – you enter what is sure to be a promising week!
We kicked off our adventure by taking that ice cream on a spin around the ship. One thing I love about a new cruise line/ship is learning to navigate it! Virgin Voyage ships are filled with nooks and crannies, tucked-away bars, an arcade, and an adult playground. It was a blast watching adults play like kids again on the swings and teeter-totter!
One of my favorite places that deserves a mention is the Social Club. Here you can find a variety of board games ranging from childhood favorite “Cooties” to adult strategy “Ticket to Ride”. As a couple that doesn’t travel without their deck of cards it was awesome to have this area to meet others that love to do the same!
After our self-led tour, we checked out the accommodations! We had a Sea Terrace Cabin (balcony) on Deck 11. Located toward the aft of the ship we enjoyed the centralized location from pools, dining, and activities! The room was super chic with ample space. Room lights, curtains, and temperature can be controlled with the in-room iPad – which also acts as the remote for the TV (movie night anyone?!) Overall, the room was a great place to rest our heads after long days of play!
Our next stop was the pool for the Sail Away party. There are several DO NOT MISS opportunities on the cruise, and this is one of them!!! With the DJ pumping everyone up and free champagne to go around – it was a great place to meet some new friends for the week while you watch the city fade away! There are two pools on Virgin ships; the first is a quiet pool with seating within and a couple of whirlpools nearby. It’s a great pool to read a book or maybe even catch that afternoon nap. Take a little stroll over to the pool next door, and you’re likely to get caught dancing to some catchy tunes. On our sea days, the DJ turned the pool into a dance party/dance-off that wasn’t for the faint of heart! It was so much fun watching people gather around, cheer, laugh, and have a great time.
But… the parties didn’t stop there!! With a Pajama Party, We Fancy, and Scarlet Night, there was rarely a time we were in bed before 1 am!! Led by the “Happenings Cast,” these events were upbeat with various dance breaks by their team. It was a great time – even if you aren’t the dancing type 🙂
Now – I don’t think I can do dining justice in this blog, as it is in a league of its own and deserves its own space so I will save that for another time. Just know – with so many options there is something for everyone, and it’s unlike any other dining at sea!
The Crew. The Crew. The Crew. This has to be the most upbeat and fun crew I have ever sailed with. These people are cracking jokes, laughing, and having a great time right alongside. It was definitely the friendliest voyage I have ever been on! From photo bombing guest photos (in good fun) to joining in the pool party dancing, they didn’t miss their opportunity to interact and have some fun! A crew can make or break your cruise experience – this group made it one to remember!
Overall, Virgin Voyages has stolen our hearts. They provide an amazing adults-only atmosphere that is upbeat, social and inclusive. I loved meeting so many first time Virgin Voyage cruisers that were traveling solo, as honeymooners and even as a girls-trip! So much yet to be discovered with this cruise line and we can’t wait to set sail again!
What about you?! Ready to dance under the stars in your pajamas?! Or catch up on your TBR list?! What about trying out a new exercise class with Zumba or Bungee?! I’d love to chat more about the opportunities on board get you set for a voyage of your own!!
AHOY, Sailor!
